Responsibilities:
This is a 12-month, non-tenure-track, 100% Extension appointment; this position willl hold the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will plan, administer and evaluate educational programs, develop curricula and provide training in the area of consumer economics that will strengthen communities and individuals. Focus areas are personal and family finance, securing financial stability, credit and debt management education, financial and estate planning. housing and the environment and micro-business. The successful candidate Will have training and background in applied consumer economics. microeconomics., social policy, financial management, consumer protection and consumer choice and household consumption. The specialist will also translate research, economic and financial data into literature and programs for audiences of all ages; work with people living within 200% of the poverty threshold as well as the working poor to increase income and assets, acquire resources and improve quality of life; utilize theoretical frameworks such as social capital and resilience theory; produce and disseminate educational resource materials and publications (e.g. fact sheets and guide sheets); publish in extension-related publications and peer-reviewed journals (candidate must send a portfolio of publications); secure extramural funding through writing grant proposals, Identify private and public funding sources to assist in program development and Extension needs; provide in-service education experiences and document program impact; form and cultivate partnerships with local, sate and federal agencies and other educational entities to optimize these collaborative relationships.

Qualifications:
Required:
An earned Ph.D. from an accredited university in consumer or family economics or a closely related field (social economics. family sciences/studies, human development with a specialization/emphasis in consumer and family economics); three (3) yews work experience addressing the needs of and working with low-income, ethnically diverse,, under served audiences from marginalized communities in informal group settings; ability to function within a diverse team of faculty and students; use of best practices in teaching and research for consumer science, documented success in obtaining extramural funding; strong written and oral communication skills; an understanding of the mission of 1890 Land Grant Universities; computer proficiency.

Preferred:
Demonstrated scholarship in Extension; membership in the American Association of Family and Consumer Science (AAFCS) with certification in financial planning (CFP). experience developing and conducting educational sessions on virtual platforms; the ability to read. speak and understand Spanish.

Salary $60,000 -$64,000
