Responsibilities:
Lincoln University is an 1890 Land Grant University located in Jefferson City, Missouri, the State capital. The University Is seeking broadly trained candidates for the position of State Extension Specialist to develop and Implement a world class program in Human and Family Sciences. This is a 12-month non-tenure-track position. The appointment will be 80% Cooperative Extension and 20% Cooperative Research and will hold the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will plan, administer and evaluate educational programs. develop curricula,and provide training in human and family sciences that will strengthen communities, families and individuals.

The Human and Family Sciences State Specialist will develop programs encompassing all aspects of human and family relationships across the life span. Focus areas can include early childhood care, parenting education, mental health awareness, decision making, social and emotional health, cognitive health, family resource management, family strengthening and resiliency and aging education and development. The position will have a special emphasis on developing educational programs to address the needs of young adults (20 and older), as well as senior citizens.

This position will have a 20% split with Cooperative Research. The Human and Family Sciences State Specialist will be responsible for an externally funded research project related to critical issues facing the health and well-being of marginalized families, individuals, children and limited resource communities. The Specialist will conduct research that addresses social justice, health and wellness, workforce development disparities, social, cultural, behavioral,environmental. and economic determinants that contribute to improving the overall well-being of individuals from diverse and marginalized communities.

The specialist will also produce and disseminate educational resource materials and publications (e.g. fact sheets and guide sheets), publish in Extension related publications and peer-reviewed journals (candidate must also send a portfolio of publications), secure extramural funding through writing grant proposals, identify private and public funding sources to assist in program development and addressing extension needs, provide in-service educational experiences, cultivate partnerships with local, state and federal agencies and other educational entities.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Earned Ph.D. from an accredited university in human development, family studies, early childhood education, social work or a closely related field; demonstrated ability to translate research into educational programs in human and family sciences;,experience In designing, conducting and evaluating educational programs; demonstrated ability to function within a diverse team of faculty and students; documented success in securing extramural funding; at least three(3) years of experience addressing the needs of and working with low-Income, ethnically divers, under served audiences from marginalized communities in informal group settings; strong written and oral communication skills; effective and innovative teaching strategies that engage target audiences, computer proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to integrate new and emerging technology into educational strategies; certification as a Family Life Educator (CFLE) through The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR); demonstrated scholarship in Extension; experience developing and conducting educational sessions via distance learning and on virtual platforms, and the ability to read, speak and understand Spanish.

Salary: $60,000 -$64,000
