Home Horticulture Program Manager

Summary of Position:

The Home Horticulture Program Manager, located at the Extension Education Center in Goffstown, N.H., will serve as a primary source of research-based information for Cooperative Extension's Home Horticulture and Master Gardener programs. The program manager provides information to the public by answering phone, email, and social media questions, and will create and coordinate the development of educational resources for home gardeners. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.

There are two positions available.

Duties/Responsibilities

Educational Programming

  • Provide research-based information on topics related to gardening, landscaping, maintenance of home grounds, pest management, and related topics to the public and Master Gardeners.

  • Create and deliver educational resources such as articles, workshops, videos, and podcasts for home gardeners.

  • Ensure accuracy and quality of educational materials created by volunteers.

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of educational curriculum and instruction for the Master Gardener program.

  • As assigned, serve as chair of Extension's Home Horticulture Area of Expertise team, leading the team in program development and annual reporting.

  • Ensure programmatic involvement of underserved and underrepresented audiences and ensure that all educational programming is conducted in full accordance with civil rights, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Affirmative Action (AA), and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) policies and procedures.

  • Supervision of staff may be required.


Professional Development

  • Identify individual professional development goals and seek training in subject area expertise and essential skills.


Other Duties

  • Accomplish other duties as assigned by the program team leader.

Other Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in horticulture, plant science, sustainable agriculture, or related field and two years experience in an educational role.

  • Previous work experience in farming, landscaping, nursery production/sales, plant health diagnostics, or other closely related disciplines.

  • Must work well as part of a team.

  • Excellent human relations and communication skills.

  • Excellent writing skills.
